Day at the Zoo

Scarlett Johansson x Reader

You take Scarlett on a date to the zoo

Note: This is based on this request. It’s all fluff! A couple mentions of Scarlett’s We Bought A Zoo character because I just had to. I hope you enjoy it!

When you suggested a day at the zoo, you honestly weren’t sure that Scarlett would go for it. You haven’t been dating too long and you were worried she would find it lame, but she sounded excited over FaceTime.

So, you got excited as well and you two solidified the plans for today.

Waiting by the car, you stand in her driveway with a bouquet of flowers. Scarlett emerges from the house with a huge smile on her face.

“Hey there, sweetheart,” she greets you.

“These are for you,” you say, handing her the flowers. They are her favorite color, red.

“They’re perfect,” she says. “Thank you.”

Scarlett kisses your cheek and smirks at the way it makes you blush. You guide her around the car and open the passenger door for her.

Once you get to the zoo, you’re both buzzing from the excitement of seeing the animals and falling in love with each other. You see everything from the giraffes to the elephants, and the red pandas.

When you get to the tigers, you watch as Scarlett looks at them in awe.

“Hey babe, can I ask you something?” You ask her.

“Sure. Are you alright?” She asks you, her hands reach for yours.

“Definitely, yeah. I just wanted to- nevermind,” you say.

“No, no. What is it?”

“Well, I was just thinking about your movie,” you say shyly. Scarlett smiles and rubs her thumbs over your hands, encouraging you to keep explaining. “And your character.”

“I see. What about my character, sweetheart?” She asks with a smirk, definitely liking where this is going.

“Scarlett,” you plead, exaggerating the word.

“Tell me, tell me, tell me!” She chants so adorably that you just have to.

“Fine. I had a big crush on her,” you admit.

Scarlett chuckles. “Oh yeah?”

“Yeah, and I wanted so badly to work at that damn zoo. I know it’s lame.”

“No, it’s extremely cute, baby. I loved doing that movie,” she says.

She keeps hold of one of your hands as she walks around the zoo. At each area, Scarlett tells you what she learned about the animals while filming the movie. All those years ago and she still remembers it all.

You take her to the gift shop at the end of the day and decide to surprise each other with stuffed animals. When you get to the car, you hand each other the bags.

“Alright, let’s see,” Scarlett says as she reaches into the bag. She pulls out a porcupine stuffed animal and laughs.

“It’s you,” you joke.

“You’re so adorable! Come here,” she says, reaching for your cheek to pull you in for a kiss. It feels like magic every time. “Now, look in your bag.”

You grin at her as you reach in and pull out a stuffed tiger. “It’s like the one in the movie.”

“I thought you’d like it since you apparently like Kelly Foster so much,” she teases.

“I love it,” you say, a silent ‘and you’ hangs in the air, but it’s not quite time for that yet. “Thank you, Scarlett.”

“You’re welcome, sweetheart. This was a great idea, by the way.”

“Yeah?” You ask and she nods. “I’m glad we did it.”

“Me too,” Scarlett says. “Do you want to go back to my place for dinner?”

“Absolutely,” you agree.

Scarlett continues to tease you that night over dinner about your crush on her character, but you don’t mind. You’re with your dream woman and nothing could be better than that.

Matt Damon

There isn’t a single Matt Damon film that I have watched and not liked him in it. He doesn’t feature in my top 5 actors I love list. He is the actor I have taken for granted - I’m going to see him in the movie and love his performance. And then I won’t go and write essays about him. Every time I rewatch his films, I will realise and appreciate how awesome he is, but I still won’t sing him the praises like I do for my favourites! Jeez after Oppenheimer I realised how unfair I have been to him as a fan. I have always loved him as an actor and his movies. I have watched movies because they starred Matt Damon.

Sorry Matt , I should have been a better fan! I have loved you every time I have watched you in Good Will Hunting, in The Bourne series, in the Ocean’s series, in the Adjustment Bureau, in the Departed, in the Martian , in Saving Private Ryan, in the Rainmaker, in the Good Shepherd, in Contagion, in We Bought a Zoo. I have to still watch your latest movies - Ford Vs Ferrari and Air.
